友禅は、京都で最も有名な絹の染め物である。１７世紀に京都に住んでいた仏僧で、独特の染色方法の創始者であった宮崎友禅に由来している。友禅は、 芸術的なデザインによって特徴付けられ、非常に熟練した染色者の手によってのみ作られる。 観光旅行をしている占領軍兵士が、友禅染の画家が原案を書いているところを見ている。 京都、日本 １９４９年。

The Yuzen fabric is one of the most famous of Kyoto silks. The name is taken from Hakae-Yuzen, a Buddhist priest who lived in Kyoto during the 17th century, creator of this unique method of dyeing. The fabric is characterized by highly artistic designs and can only be produced in the hands of a very skillful dyer. A painter drafts an original as two members of the occupational forces, who are on a sightseeing tour, look on; Kyoto, Japan. 1949
