米陸軍第４０歩兵師団の第２２４連隊本部のキャンプホーゲンの近くの八戸でクリスマスパーティーが村の子どもたちのために催されて、サンタクロースに扮した米陸軍共同兵站部配下の第１８陸軍郵便部隊のサミュエル ゴールドスタイン軍曹(ニューヨーク州ブロンクス)は日本の子どもたちにクリスマスギフトを渡している。
