ララへの感謝会で子どもを抱くエスター・Ｂ・ローズ
昭和２４年に日本の横浜で開催 。日本は物理的な回復にむけて多大な進歩があったが、国内の多くの人々、特に子供たちはまだ援助を必要としている。アメリカフレンズ奉仕団がフォード財団からの寄付の一部を利用して、乳児のために全乳を提供している。地方での供給はまだ不十分である。日本のおよそ1,000の施設がアメリカから食料を贈られている。これは、健康面を支えるとともに、友情と善意も表している。この写真の中の婦人はミス・エスター・ローズ（Esther Rhoads)で、AFSC（アメリカフレンズ奉仕団）の代表としてからララ（アジア救援公認団体）に派遣され、日本で活動しているクエーカーだ。ララを通して日本に大量の救援物資が提供されている。（写真の）乳児らは、神奈川県横浜の乳児6,000人のうちのごく一部だが、アメリカの人々の贈り物を通して食料を受け取った。
エスター・B・ローズ（1896～1979）：1896年米国フィラデルフィア市生まれ。1921年から1960年、普連土学園（東京都港区）へ奉職の傍ら、戦争中抑留キャンプで奉仕活動・邦人の待遇改善等に専念した。戦後は「ララ（アジア救援公認団体）救援物資中央委員会」の委員として、ララ物資を通じて困窮した日本人の生活を援助した。
Held in Yokohama in January 1949 Although Japan has made considerable progress toward physical recovery, many in that land, especially children, are still in need. The American Friends Service Committee is using some of the contribution from the Ford Foundation to supply whole milk for babies. The local supply is still inadequate. About 1,000 ins[t]itutions in Japan have received gifts of food from America, bringing both physical comfort and an expression of friendship and goodwill. The adult in this pictures is Miss ESTHER Rhoads, Quaker worker in Japan, representative of the AFSC to Licensed Agencies for Relief in Asia, through which the bulk of relief to Japan is administered. The babies are a few of the 6,000 in Kanagawa prefecture, Yokohama, who have received food through American gifts.
