「休憩時間」に地元の小学校の子どもたちを見守る海兵隊員。写真は、男女混合の徒競走。女の子がリードを奪ったときは応援の子どもたちが喝采した。だが、ほんの一瞬しか続かず、ホームストレッチで男の子に追い抜かれた。東公園と推定。

Marine watching the young boys and girls from the local grade school at “recess time”. Shown in the picture is a race in which the boys and girls both ran together. And the cheering section got quite a thrill when one of the girls took the lead for a second, but was overtaken by the boy in the home stretch.
