１０代の子どもたちが伊江島の米軍の収容所の洗濯場所で服を絞っている。伊江島は沖縄に近い重要な島である。背景に火を起こす係りの男性がお湯を沸かしており、収容所の家族のために、風呂桶で女の子が服を絞っている。風呂桶は切り分けたオイル缶でできている。昭和２０年４月２１日伊江島戦終了宣言。

Teen-agers do the laundry in Ie Shima refugee camp. Three native girls wring out the clothes in the "Laundry" section of a refugee camp on Ie Shima, island off Okinawa which was occupied by an amphibious force of soldiers, coast guardsmen, and navy men. In the background, a fireman keeps the water boiling, while girls rinse clothes for the refugee families in tubs, made from split oil drums.
