ここに写っている火災警報装置が米軍の爆撃機にやられて役に立たなくて瓦礫の山となった東京の街。日本の首都はこれほどひどく爆撃され、焼き払われたので、防火装置は空襲で発生した無数の火災に対処できなかった。

Tokyo's rubble attests that this fire alarm system couldn't carry the load American bombers forced upon it. The Japanese Capital was burned and bombed with such severity that no fire righting system could cope with the tremendous number of fires started in the raids.
