台風の爪痕

（原文訳）９月２１日金曜日の朝、日本の西部を襲った台風で、２，５００人が死亡し、１３，０００人が負傷し、６８０人が行方不明になっています。私はこの災害の翌朝、大阪にいて、台風が残した酷い爪痕を目にしました。桟橋が壊れ、台風による高波によって、多くの汽船が海岸に打ち上げられていました。急行列車が脱線して、京都近くの瀬田川に突っ込み、９人の死者を出し、２１８人以上が重傷を負いました。
（原文）In the typhoon which struck the western part of Japan on Friday morning, September the 21st, 2,500 people were killed, 13,000 were injured, and 680 are missing. I was in Osaka the morning after the disaster and saw the terrible result of the storm. Piers were broken and many steamers were driven on the shore by the tidal waves which were caused by the typhoon. An express passenger train was blown off the tracks over the River Seta near Kyoto, which caused the deaths of nine persons and serious injuries to 218 more.
